Latest update
Kwekwe Pemadizidjik Kokom Louise Wawatie is in stable condition with virtually no change on her status, she breathes on her own and her heart is pumping firmly. Her left side of her body is less responsive although her right side is very active with strong grip on her right hand. . she open her eyes and tries to recognized and locate the sound of voices. Today they clean the breathing tube that helps her breath easier, and also tested if she could breath on her own. a Test that will continue throughout the week. On behalf of the Wawatie and Pien Family, I would like to say Kitci Migwetc for all the prayers fires lit, ceremonies, healing spirit sent in support of Kokom Louise and her family. Kokom Louise receives our collective "Healing Spirit"
In stable condition, she is out of (ICU) to "Neuroscience Observation Area", she is not out of danger yet but improving, she breathes on her own and her ticker is pumping on its own.
She slightly opens her eyes as if the light hurts her eyes and she squints. She hears when she is spoken to. I told her about everyone payers and ceremonies conducted to her healing.
Yesterday, Feb 1 Louise was sitting in her chair, (part of therapy) her blood pressure is stable and doing fine.
Migwetc, to everyone for every means that creates the "Healing Spirit" evoked to Elder Kokom Louise Wawatie.

Louise's progress and a loss more for the Wawatie family
Kwekwe kikina pemadizidjik
My sister Louise is in stable condition with no change from the stroke
itself. She has been moved to Neuroscience observation area, She is
responding to our presence.her left side seem to have been touched by
the stroke with slow reaction. beside that she is recovering slowly.
Her oldest daughter Evelyne has left for the next world to meet its
ancestors. The Wawatie and Pien Family has been struck by a series of
mishaps in the last few weeks and hope it will soon end,
Migwetc for your prayers and concern to express the best wishes.

Prayers for our Kokom
[Taken from FB, Jocelyn Woods]
Prayers for Kokom Louise Wawatie, Grandmother Elder of the Algonquin nation in Canada, sister to Elder Jacob Wawatie. Louise suffered a massive stroke with grim outlook from doctors; however, the Peoples of the Earth have raised their voices in a harmonious prayer, pipe offerings and healing ceremonies from across Turtle Island. Yesterday, for the first time, Louise responded to the nurse who asked her to squeeze her hand, and opened her eyes when asked. May Kokom Louise through the deep roots she has nurtured in our Mother Earth be quickened and alivened with the greening force of regeneration and new growth: like a hopeful springtime, may the nectar of the Gods flow through her blood and nerves, healing and awakening her brain, may the love she has seeded abundantly return to her through our ocean of gratitude and praise. In trust and surrender the Earth and Sky sing for Kokom Louise!

sense of hope, I cannot say Migwetch to everyone that lifted their
pipe, candles lit, healing ceremonies, healing prayers, medicine sent,
and tobacco, and all other good thought sent her way and to the family.
And the news of the day, she open her eyes when she was ask to open

pressure which is slightly high. She will be taken out of the ICU in the
next couple of days. My heart feel at peace tonight. And may the Great

The doctor removed the sedative that keeps her sleeping. Will be going shortly to see her and will keep you posted.
